(FYI: All the pictures are found in Douban.com, which is a very famous Chinese SNS website)
Eva and Lisa both post some nice photos of Pandas in China. And today I find some even more "photoshopped" photos:
The original photo
Look at his finger :)
The popular "V" signature in 1990s
The 《Pirates of the Caribbean》 version
The Hip Hop Version
The shanzhai version
The naughty version
The –_-||| version
This is a "panda shaoxiang" version. Shaoxiang, aka "烧香" in Chinese, means go to the temple for burning incense and offering up a sacrifice. The Shaoxiang Panda is a very famous computer virus (worm like) in China during 2007. Once you get infected, all the icons of your files will be a picture like this one:

what is the deal with writing Wang on cats' (and now a panda's!) forehead? I see it all the time, what is it for?
I am sorry, what do you mean by "wang" here?
The sign "王" in the photo of shaizhai version means pretend to be the king !!
Oh, you mean that -_-
Unfortunately, I know little about that. I will ask Lisa for help :)
The Chinese character Wang(王) was a sign of Tiger which means he was the King of all the animals in ancient China.
There is also a nice story saying that in the past, Horse was the King of forest. One day, a fierce monster appeared and the Horse had no way to beat it. So he went to the heaven to ask for help. The Chinese Jade Emperor sent his bodyguard Tiger to go down to the forest to help, but Tiger asked for a sign if he could win. Then, he won the first time and of course had a "—" carved at his forehead. Some times later, another monster invaded and the Horse again begged the Tiger to help....
he fought with monsters 3 times and won all. At the forth time when he won again, there was the 王 (4 strokes which consist of three "—"and one " I " ) as awards issued by the Jade Emperor on Tiger's forehead and then he became the new ruler of all animals and lived in the world forever.
However, put that 王 onto a panda's forehead is definitely a joke or humor, I think.
The character on the panda's head looks like the surname Wang to me (maybe I am wrong, I can't read Chinese properly!).
Meg,
You are right! That Wang on panda's forehead is the popular surname of Chinese people.
OMG, is this site becoming panda's world? haha
aw, can you put some smiley icons into system? I know it will slow down your site. But sometimes I need this.

All panda versions are lovely, I think《Pirates of the Caribbean》version is the funniest. But usually, panda is a very lazy animal, it wouldn't hold a big falchion. Haha...
