Saying Something on Iraq back to the Games

I am very happy to hear that the ban on Iraq competing in the Beijing Olympics has been over-turned finally!

I kept an eye on how it went ahead for days since I heard of the Ban. I firstly felt sad with the Iraqi athletes who took years for the great Games but then they would lose the treasurable opportunity. Some of them even cried heavily for it, and I seemed as if I could see the tears.

Then I was puzzled with this principle relating politics. It is originally to protect the Olympic Spirit but people's feelings was hurt by it somehow. At least I felt very sorry to the Iraqi people and its athletes who was just recovering from the disaster of the War.. In another word, since the Olympic Games is a game for all countries in the world as well as all the people in the world, why should it miss one country as well as its athletes? So, I think such politics oriented principle would be a dilemma indeed when it is being carried out.

Anyway, like the news paper said, this final agreement is the victory of all! My only wish now is to give the other 5 Iraqi athletes more chances to get back their qualification for attending the Games.

Am I right?

  1. I bet most of the people here at ifgogo have had something to say on 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, since it is not 0 distance with us.

In my idea, there is not only cheers or waiting for watching the Games we can do but some meaningful discussion at this great time when we cannot be pulled onto other topics.

I did just now and i also hope you guys say more by your own....hehe

  2. With the holding of this Game on it's soil, China has come of age, so to speak. Chinese people from all over the world are proud of this great achievement, irrespective of where we may be. Just as we felt the pain and sufferings when the earthquake struck Sichuan province in May, we take pride in joining in the celebration of this great event now.

  3. Iraqi athletes should be honored, they were training in a so bad condition. I still remembered a visit about a Iraqi running athlete before the ban had been over-turned, she cried heavily and said that she looked forward to join 2008 Beijing Olympic games very much as she maybe died in next four training years and couldn't join 2012 London Olympic games
