Here I found some funny pictures about the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The first is how the waitress are trained to smile. As we can see, everyone one is taking a pencil in her mouth. Thus to make sure that only 8 teeth are shown to the others.
The second one here seems to be a "balance training". Everyone is taking a book on her head and keep it there. As we can see from this picture, even when having a book on head, they are smiling so sweet ;)
Anyway, I don't quite understand how to explain this picture in English properly, maybe you can give me some tips?
Then, the last one (Fuwa girls), just for fun:
PS: One more for fun (Fuwa comic version) ;p
FYI: Most of the pictures are originally from club.163.com, some are from xiaonei.com.

LoL, I think that's a chopstick in her mouth, not a pencil.
Anyway, they do a lot of this stuff in modeling school so while it looks a little silly to normal people, I'm not surprised the government is doing this for their personnel.
Oh, seems that I made a mistake -_-
sorry!
The 'balancing' act with book on the head is for posture, I think it's called.
Thanks for your tips Ching!
:)
Fuwa version of all sorts.did not know before.
Interesting post! Sounds like many Chinese people are rallying behind the goal of providing a hospitable, positive impression to foreigners coming to China. I must believe there is continued nervousness, like when you are inviting an important person to your home for the first time. I feel nervous, and I'm not even in Beijing or China! Good luck Beijing, my pr4y3rs are with you!
Thanks Ng!
Beijing is trying its best anyway!
It's not pencil but chopstick :)
It looks like the girls are doing ballet, to tone muscles or improve their posture, either way, it's good for models. (I took ballet classes growing up, but sadly the years of hunching over my computer screen haven't done much for my posture!)
Save the life, leave the screen
Cherish life, stay away from Aw, ha ha
