Actually I was too restricted before. You know why? Because my (personal Chinese) blog did earn money, no matter how much, it(ad revenue) worked.

Once it worked, it'd bring you some expectation. And the expectation could slowly and unconsciously drive your blogging style away, and gradually give you more and more pressure, more and more "targets".

Looking back upon the first time I started a blog (in 2004) - I developed the system myself, the interface, the database. The reader even aren't able to drop a comment (they could mail me anyway)! But those days I'm really enjoy writing stuff and I'm with great passion to write and share.

Actually, I love the current state of IfGoGo, the blog is not that popular but we've got a group of cute readers/authors, the blog is not earning money but it's also very easy to maintain. You don't need to feel pressure when you write since even if you write a really poor post, you won't lose anything (this reminds me of a phrase that many basketball coaches said - "Nothing to lose", haha).
