The Beijing Olympic Medal Table Widget in English

Announcement: The Widget is now switched to a "Medal Table" Widget.

Having been asked for many times, when Kingler asked me to do so, I have translated this widget into English today. Here is what it looks like:

So if you support China and the Olympic Games, just put this HTML code into your blog or website:

However, if you don't like the "recommended links", you may use this code:

Of course, available in Chinese here.

It's also available in Netvibes, WordPress and Facebook as:

  • (URL) 2008 Beijing Olympics Countdown (Netvibes widget)
  • (Download) 2008 Beijing Olympics Countdown (WordPress plugin)
  • (Application) Countdown to 2008 Beijing Olympic Games (Facebook Application)

However, if you don't like it, just forget it :)

  1. Hi Aw,

How do you add the countdown clock to the Olympics to Facebook? It's a great way to show support.

    Liz

  2. Nice job! I agree with worldmikel. It would be even better if it looked like the real countdown clock. I'm looking for something like that to add to my site.

    Thanks!
    Mike Smith

  3. Feel free to add, however, I don't think the "actual clock" is better. Things in real life differs from those in internet. If I add some of those effects to this countdown, it would be less compatible to all kinds of web-designs.

Anyway, Many thanks to you and worldmikel :)

  4. Hi Lisa, I am sorry there is currently no available version for MySpace. Maybe there will be one, but I cannot promise anything.

    Thanks for your interesting :)

  5. I did notice one grammatical mistake several times in your replies to the comments posted on this page:"Thanks for your interesting."
Normally I will use "Thanks for your interest."
Hope you dont mind my honesty, and personally I will simply forget this application for its scant interaction with its users, though it's got great background images.

  6. Thanks for the update. The clock is up and running and counting down. YEAH!

  7. OMG, thanks -_-

I just get used to say something wrong ... Thanks very very much to correct me. However, as a second language speaker, I am ALWAYS a learner, all of you can be my teacher :)

BTW, what do you mean by "scant interaction with its users" ? Could u please give me some more tips? Personally I don't think a "countdown clock" needs some "interaction" ...

    Looking forward to your reply.

  9. come on!!bei jing!!
    come on ~~china!!
we are waiting for the grate day!

  10. sorry but it seems the newly updated one doesn't work on my site any more... I dunno why, I just fully copied the code and pasted it on the same place where it worked well before updating as it was the countdown

  11. Very good link with the spectacular Beijing Games. Congratulations China and the city of Beijing. Thank you for this countdown link. We had this pasted on our website since last month before the 08.08.08 at 08 minutes to 8:00 o'clock in the evening. Well done Beijing and we in the Philippines are very proud of you hosting the 29th Olympiad in Asia - one Asia, one Dream, one World ... you have created the best show ever. Saludos China !!!

  12. Thanks. :)
But seems your URL is a wrong address..... I removed it temporarily. Feel free to tell me the right one :)

  13. It's ok, Aw Guo. I can understand why you deleted my website link. Well, just imagine and think that I am in the Philippines (hahaha). I am still a Filipino-born asian anyway though I've lived here since 1978. I can't hide my race and I am so proud of my asianness. Beijing Games is really superb. I watched the full-coverage here 24-hour a day. We are bombarded with daily updates of the Games. I feel like I am in Beijing. Beijing is a gorgeous city. I've never been to China and hope to visit your country one day. I watched the live coverage of women's and men's cycling yesteday and the other day respectively and the natural views on the road are truly amazing. The olympic stadium and the swimming pavilion are uniquely designed. I wish I can go to Tianamen Square and the Great Wall someday. I don't know anyone living in China. I also want to go to Mongolia, Bhutan, and the northwestern part of China. BTW, I don't have any other website and I don't have the right one, too. Best regards.
