Author’s guide

[Update Apr.25] Since we’ve been upgraded to WordPress 2.5, some of the following tutorial is not proper any more. So I’m uploading some video-tutorials for all the authors. Well, it’s really great to say hello to world. But there is something extra we need to do, just to make sure everyone has a good trip in ifgogo.com

As an author, you can write a post and edit your post, you can save as a draft and you can also publish it. But let me tell you how to do this all, to make sure when you take some action, everything is running okay.

• Write a post
  First, you need to login as an author. After you done this authentication, you can follow this link (http://www.ifgogo.com/wp-admin/) to your Dashboard. You will see this:
  
  Just click on the “Write a post”, you will see the editor. Don’t be afraid, it’s very easy to get started. First, you need to choose a Category ( 99% you choose “normal”, for we only have this category now).
  Then, type in the title, type in the content, please don’t change the font-size and the font-family. And please NEVER paste from Microsoft Word. That may bring some trouble.
• Edit a post
  You can just edit your post in the normal view, like this:
  
  Also, if you are in the Administrator’s view, you can edit/remove your post in this way:
  
• Edit your profile
  Well, this is very very important. Many of you may ignore this.
  
  Don’t change the “nickname”. And keep it exact the same as your “Username”. If you want to change your name for publicly shown, change your First name and your Last name, save it. Then you can see your desired name in that list-box.
• Assigning tags
  Before announcing this exciting new feature, I think I have to say something basic about tags. As for some authors may get confused: Why do I need a tag if we could have categories to choose? Even the IfGoGo.com is not providing any category-choice!(Yes, we have only one category - Normal Post)
  Actually, that’s the point!
  Category sometimes makes you more confused. If I set up some categories for you to choose, when we have many many authors one day, I need to set up thousands of categories for all of you. That’s very unpractical!
  But tags are so useful in this case. You can pick up any existed tag, or even just specify a brand-new one!
  Maybe you can think about that “tags” are “dynamically categories”.
  Anyway, you can take a look at the other authors’ choice:)
  So, I am very glad to announce that we’ve got something interesting about the tag-editing system. Thanks to the magic of AJAX, we can now easily assign and remove tags for a post. Here is the “cute editing bar”:
  
  I have said almost everything in this picture above, however I wanna tell you some extra tips:
  1. After you clicking the “+”, Just wait a moment ( 1-10 sec ). The new tag would not be shown immediately.
  2. You may notice that the “F” of the tag “Future” is in upper-case while the “p” of the tag “past” is not. That’s due to the first time you entered the tag. In this case, Lisa post an entry with a tag “Future” so that my tag will follow her rule. Anyway, no matter “F” or “f”, that’s really not important ;)

Well, there are a lot words I want to say. However, let me update this page in the future.
